Advent means "coming" or "arrival," and is a season of anticipation of the coming of Christ.
Through Advent, we light a candle each week, signifying that we are getting closer to the coming of Christ, who is the "true light, which gives light to everyone" (John 1:9), even as we look to the scriptures for reminders of God's promises to us.
Advent leads us directly into Christmas, where we celebrate the coming of Christ at His birth.
As we move through the four weeks of Advent, our teaching series will walk through the story of Christ's coming, as told in the Gospel of Matthew.
